Dr. Matthew J. Budoff is a Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and serves as the Program Director and Director of Cardiac Computed Tomography at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He is at the forefront of research aimed at early detection of cardiac disease, focusing on identifying patients at high risk for cardiac events and atherosclerosis progression. His work has been instrumental in exploring the effects of various therapies on atherosclerosis and determining whether heart disease can be reversed. Dr. Budoff’s team has also demonstrated the utility of cardiac CT for assessing thoracic aortic calcification, aortic valve calcification, mitral annular calcification, and more. He holds board certifications in Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiovascular CT and has received numerous accolades, including the Gold Medal Award from the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also recognized as one of the world’s most influential scientific researchers.
